"Built By A Mom Who Needed Support Too"

AKIA Wellness was born during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I was trying to balance motherhood, work, healing, and the daily responsibility of caring for everyone around me. Like so many women, I spent my time making sure everyone else's needs were met while quietly pushing my own to the side. On the outside, I looked like I was managing, but internally I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and carrying more than most people realized.

What I discovered during that season was that everyone thinks about the baby, but not many people think about Mama. When you're a mother, people often celebrate your strength and resilience, but they don't always see the emotional weight YOU are carrying behind the scenes. There were times when I tried to share what I was going through and felt dismissed or misunderstood. People saw me functioning, but they didn't see the stress, the healing, the grief, the sleepless nights, or the pressure of constantly putting everyone else first.

At that point in my life, I didn't need more advice. I didn't need another wellness trend, another complicated routine, or another person telling me what I should be doing. I needed support. I needed someone to think about me for a change. I needed a reminder that I mattered too.

We're not here to follow trends—we're here to build something timeless. With a blend of creativity, strategy, and heart, we help ideas come to life.

That's why I created AKIA Wellness. I wanted to create something that made self-care feel simple, accessible, and realistic for busy moms who are already carrying so much. The Monthly Reset was designed to help mothers care for themselves without adding another task to their never-ending to-do lists. Every box is thoughtfully curated to provide a moment of rest, encouragement, and support because I know firsthand how easy it is to lose yourself while taking care of everyone else.

My hope is that when a mother receives an AKIA Wellness box, she feels seen. I hope she feels supported, appreciated, and reminded that her well-being matters just as much as everyone else's. Because motherhood is beautiful, but it can also be incredibly hard. And no mother should have to carry that weight alone.

Folic Acid and Pregnancy all women of childbearing age in the United States who are capable of becoming pregnant should consume 400 micrograms of folic acid/day for the purpose of reducing this risk. Ways in which a reproductive age woman could achieve this goal include: 1) fortifying a food sample with folic acid, 2) consuming supplements containing at least 400 mcg of folic acid, or 3) increasing nutrient intake by eating foods rich in folate. Advantages of consuming foods high in folate content are that it is a natural behavior and consistent with other dietary recommendations. However, this method is dependent upon a proper diet, and equivalencies of conjugated (dietary form) vs. unconjugated (in supplements) folate are unknown. The benefit of a supplementation policy is that the appropriate group can be targeted as pregnancies are planned, whereas primary limitations to taking a supplement would be compliance and most cases in need would not be reached. The advantage of fortification is that it is likely to reach everyone before conception, while the major disadvantage is that nontargeted populations will also receive more folic acid. Adequate consumption of folic acid should begin before and continue during at least the first 4 weeks after conception when the fetal neural tube is being formed. Standard methods of screening for neural tube defects should continue during pregnancy. The risk of a recurrent neural tube defect is 2-3%, and a higher periconception daily intake of folic acid (4 mg per day) is recommended.
